TEL Transfer Unit Steelwork Skid Structure, Stairway & Cantilever Roof for Export to South Korea
Edwards Elite Engineering were asked to fabricate and assemble a skid frame and all associated items as described in a detailed specification complete with associated drawings. The final assembly was witnessed and inspected at our workshop by a client representative before being stripped down for painting and ready to be exported to South Korea. A full quality electronic documentation package accompanies the skid unit upon completion. A strict schedule of works had to be adhered to due to the nature of the export.
Design & Build
The main skid unit been designed as one unit by Clancy Consulting. This design enables the skid unit to be able to withstand the more variable weather conditions i.e. earthquakes, typhoons etc… that occur in South Korea than here in the United Kingdom. The rest of the accessories have been designed so that they can bolt on/off the main frame structure so that they can be transported as one package. Once the skid unit had been be completed we then fabricated and installed all the pipework and associated items, which included: A Separator Pot, Vacuum Pump Support Stool, Sealant Circulation Tank and a Sealant Tank Demister Unit.
Testing & Painting
Following the trial erection of the steelwork, pipework & associated items we had all the butt welds 100% radiography tested to keep in line with Clancy Consulting’s build specifications. After all the welds had been tested we disassembled the pipework and associated items and transported everything to an industrial painting facility. All steelwork, pipework and associated items were painted in accordance with the below specifications:
- Grit Blast SA2.5
- One coat of epoxy primer to 75 microns d.f.t
- One coat epoxy undercoat to 125 microns d.f.t
- One coat epoxy finish to 50 microns d.f.t – finish colour white (BS381C)
- All stair treads and handrails were left with a galvanised finish as per the industry standard
